A Bit of History

Reading through some of my Ravelry forums, I came across a discussion of a BBC series called “The Fabric of Britain”. Ravelers in Canada and, of course, Great Britain, who can watch BBC, were discussing a segment on knitting.

While there were many comments on too much focus on 1980’s knitted fashion and not enough on current trends, I really wanted to see this program. Sadly, it is not available on BBCAmerica.

Today, I finally found a link. I loved the history, the vintage (early 20th century) film of men, women and children knitting. I also liked seeing examples of the typically British style of holding the knitting needles.

If you have a spare hour, I encourage you to pick up your needles, brew a pot of tea, and sit down for a thoroughly enjoyable show.
