Knitting Has Become En Vogue*

The other day I was looking through the September issue of Vogue. This issue is traditionally the magazine’s largest (2013’s carries 902 pages and weighs nearly 5 pounds!). It is also the one issue of the year much desired by fashionistas as it highlights all the au c0urant Fall fashions and trends. For example, Google Glass, which is receiving some major notice, has 12 editorial pages in this issue devoted to this new technological innovation.

As I began to page through this weighty tome I was literally stopped dead in my tracks when I came across this ad:

Go ahead. Click on the picture to get a better look. Do you see it? Chanel, that much revered bastion of fashion and the originator of the LBD (Little Black Dress), featured models knitting! Yes, KNITTING. Proving to the world (at least the fashionable one) that knitting is chic.

*Wiktionary: French, Adjective, en vogue, 1. In fashion; fashionable
